It is flexible and up to you, but these are our recommendations.
Size - 6 people (ish)
A Teylu is ideally 4 to 6 people. Anything over 8 people and the number of relational connections starts to become too unwieldy. A smaller number also encourages everyone to share when present and show up when it's scheduled. A higher number and people can start to take a back seat or be non committal: "someone else will do it".
We would recommend 12 people being an upper limit. If it starts to become this large, it is better to split into two groups. You should be proud if your Teylu is large enough to divide: you have found a need!
Duration - 1hr minimum.
Some meet for longer, particularly if combining it with a meal. But you don’t need to meet for more than 2 hours to be effective.
Regularity - 1 month minimum.
Once a fortnight if you hope to make focused progress on something in particular. Once a month at a minimum: less than this and it becomes more of an event than a small group. To help find the right frequency, ask yourself: “How much of a gap between meetings is too long if someone misses one?”
Cycle - 3 month minimum.
Having an end date - at which point you can continue on or close - minimises the potential for drift and makes it simpler to leave/close needs be. It also enables the person leading the Teylu (the “Host”) not to be caught in a never ending role.
